Hi, my name is Stephanie and that's my friend the chayote squash! I'm a Sodexo Dietetic Intern ready to start my career as a culinary dietitian.
I graduated from the University of Connecticut Didactic Program in Dietetics in 2016, where I went on to get professional experience as a diet tech at an Eating Disorder Treatment center. Followed by working as a nutritionist and certified lactation specialist at WIC. In 2017, I had a real "finding myself" moment, as if I ever actually needed to "find myself". I had the opportunity to work as a kitchen apprentice on a local farm partly owned by a dietitian, spending most of my days baking in the kitchen, helping with cooking classes, or interacting with guests in our "Harvest-Your-Own" area. I learned so much about agriculture and importance of educating the public on sustainable practices. |
My interest in teaching people how to eat healthy is deeply rooted. I grew up in a house with two kitchens--one residential and one commercial. My father is a Chef and Culinary Arts teacher, and I found my life centered in the kitchen. Educating the public on how and why to eat healthy is so important, but how can we expect them to eat healthy if the conversation stops there? I'm committed to get people in touch with their food and learn how eating healthy can be delicious! Some of my special interests include agriculture and food history. I spend my free time in the spring through fall gardening, and in the winter preserving food. |
